Description
It is Important for Parents to Connect with Each Other
Social support networks are more difficult to establish than in earlier eras when people were at home more. There is a need to assertively build these networks. Neighbourhood resources centres provide places where families and caregivers can connect. Universal access is a key to the success of these centres. People get their information from each other and experience is a great teacher.
We Don’t have to be Perfect as Parents
There is no such thing as a typical family and it is not a sign of weakness to ask for help. Social media can lead parents to have unrealistic expectations. Stress and conflict can be understood in terms of a child’s temperament and developmental level, knowledge that can help the family respond more effectively.
