The future of maritime safety and navigation: S-100 global rollout

Toitū Te Whenua Land Information New Zealand is helping to prepare our region for a new, global, digital navigation framework that we expect to roll out from 2026. Known as the S-100 standard, this technical framework blends together different data formats in real time, synthesising complex information that is critical for maritime decision-making. Ultimately, S-100 will enhance the safe navigation of vessels in open oceans or within ports – onboard both crewed vessels and the autonomous ships of the future.
