Description
Japanese red foxes (Vulpes vulpes japonica, family Canidae) alternately visiting the snowy den site of Japanese raccoon dogs (Nyctereutes viverrinus, family Canidae), which used to be the sett of Japanese badger (Meles anakuma, family Mustelidae), in the defoliated secondary forest. Judging from the posture of territorial pee-marking at the tree or leafless shrub, the foxes seemed to include both male and female. Captured from two angles with my new trailcams day and night of early- and mid-January 2025 in Japan.
