Description
It's my first spring in our new garden, and I'm heading out for a late-spring foraging trip to explore the hedgerows and gather some wild edibles, especially elderflower. I'm trying something new today: sweet elderflower fritters, a simple food that I hope will be a beautiful old-fashioned seasonal treat. This adventure is part of our journey towards simple living and homesteading.
Some of these elderflowers are being saved for an upcoming ginger bug soda experiment, but today I’m trying something completely new to me: sweet elderflower fritters. Think light tempura-style batter, crispy flowers, a dusting of sugar, and a very honest taste test from G.
Will they be a beautiful old-fashioned seasonal treat, or have I just deep-fried a hedge? Let’s find out.
I’ll also be back on Monday with the next part of the £50 chicken coop build, and next Wednesday we’ll be turning elderflowers into fizzy ginger bug soda.
Thanks for being here, Good Lifers 🌿
