Advancing NCD Prevention and Care: Healthy Starts for Every Child

Non-communicable diseases are the leading global cause of death and increasingly affect children and adolescents. UNICEF works to reduce risk, promote prevention, support early detection and improve care. Addressing this urgent public health crisis requires public-privatee sector action to NCD prevention and control. UNICEF, governments and partners have made significant progress, but much remains to be done. NCDs are non-transmissible diseases like sickle cell, diabetes, asthma, cancer and heart disease. They can be chronic or acute and affect all ages. Most NCDs are caused by behavioral, environmental, genetic and physiological factors.
