MASS FOR FIFTH SUNDAY OF LENT 3/22/26 | The Resurrection and the Life: Faith in the Midst of Grief

He pledges to put His spirit within them so that they may live and be settled upon their own land, that they may know He is the Lord. -The Responsorial Psalm (Ps 130): A cry from the depths: "With the Lord there is mercy and fullness of redemption". -The Second Reading (Romans 8:8-11): St. Paul teaches that if the Spirit of God dwells in us, the One who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to our mortal bodies. -The Holy Gospel (John 11:1-45): Jesus receives word that His friend Lazarus is ill but remains where He is for two days. Upon arriving in Bethany, He finds Lazarus has been in the tomb for four days. After declaring to Martha, "I am the resurrection and the life," Jesus travels to the tomb and, deeply troubled, cries out: "Lazarus, come out!". The dead man emerges, restored to life, leading many to believe in Him. May we always be counted among the members of Christ as we partake in these sacred mysteries, looking forward to the joy of the Resurrection.
