When the report says normal, negative for malignancy, we are happy. What comes to mind is what if the test reports are abnormal? What are abnormal Pap smears indicative of? The most common abnormal Pap smear is inflammatory or infectious. That basically indicates some kind of infections like herpes, like human papillomavirus, like Trichomoniasis. These are all the infections. Then comes the next ones that are some kind of abnormal cells or precancerous cells in your cervix that we need to be really, really careful of. Most of the human papillomavirus infections can sometimes go away on their own; they don't need to be addressed. Once your abnormal report comes, your doctor might advise a repeat Pap smear after 3 months or 6 months, or sometimes if the report suggests precancerous changes, you might be asked to go in for a small procedure that we call as colposcopy, in which we take the patient to the operation theatre and under anaesthesia we apply some chemicals and see the mouth of the uterus, the cervix, under magnification. And the area that we find abnormal, we take a biopsy, a small piece of your cervix from that area, to further assess for any cancer. So don't worry, girls. Most of the times it can be nothing, but still it needs to be addressed. Depending upon your abnormal smear result, your doctor will guide you accordingly and will help you out. So don't worry, let's address if anything like that comes and stay healthy. abnormal pap smear | pap smear results | abnormal pap smear causes | pap smear test | pap smear meaning | pap smear report | abnormal pap test | cervical cancer screening | hpv infection | human papillomavirus | sexual health women | pap smear and sexual health | cervical cancer symptoms | precancerous cervical cells | colposcopy procedure | cervical biopsy | pap smear after marriage | pap smear after sex #cloudnine #cloudninehospitals #oncloudnine #weknowmoms #papsmear #womenshealth #womenhealth
