Description
Iran “cannot hold the global economy hostage”, Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper said as she called for a “swift resolution” to the Middle East crisis.
Speaking at a meeting of G7 foreign ministers in Vaux-de-Cernay, France, she said it was “a time of huge global instability and insecurity”.
“We will of course be discussing the conflict in the Middle East, where we want to see a swift resolution that reaches regional stability and security and opens the Strait of Hormuz,” she said.
Ms Cooper said she was “deeply concerned” about Russia’s co-operation with Iran in the Middle East conflict.
