PM Mark Carney launches National Food Security Strategy – June 11, 2026

Prime Minister Mark Carney announces the launch of Canada's first National Food Security Strategy. The plan, which will invest more than $3 billion over 10 years, aims to improve Canada's food security by increasing grocery store competition, boosting domestic food production, growing fruits and vegetables year-round, and cutting red tape in the agricultural supply chain. He is joined at the news conference in Etobicoke, Ont., by Heath MacDonald (agriculture minister) and James Maloney (MP for Etobicoke—Lakeshore, Ont.).
