In this episode of Solid Ground, Simon gives a light-hearted critique of those who keep saying ‘where does it say it say ‘x’ in the Bible’ before noting his recent op-ed in The Post around NZ MPs being sanctioned for visiting China. He then discusses the call to increase bereavement leave from three days to ten days, mostly asking who pays for this? He highlights work done by the Ethos Alliance showing the NZ Army is not fully respecting the conscience rights of soldiers, and questions why any military would spend more time focused on songs and prayers, and not weapons proficiency and combat preparedness. Simon then draws viewers’ attention to a recent case in the United Kingdom, where a Christian police officer lost their job for asking questions in, what was effectively, another religion’s indoctrination session. While the officer has now won their court case, it shows the worrying institutional capture – both in the UK but also here in New Zealand – by various groups, intent on enforcing their view of the world on others. Simon wraps up sharing good news of a hospital in Australia holding it’s ground on life issues.
