Description

Green Moor Pump House was the main source of water for Green Moor until mains water reached the village in 1953. The structure is unusual as it was built from the bottom up. Water was originally collected from the bottom of Delf quarry descending a flight of steps. Then in 1909, when a vertical shaft was built a pumping system brought the water to the surface. On Heritage Open Day visitors can descend the 30 foot ladder and 24 steps to the well head.
