Description

G'day all! Continuing on with the Hut hiking, ticking more huts of the list. Today was 2 fantastic huts; The Gooandra Homestead and Gavels Hut! Both huts requiring a 10km total hike. The hike in to Gooandra is a relatively easy, mildy undulating walk through some plains. The homestead is set in a very nice location, surrounded by gum trees, overlooking some beautiful plains. Not only is it one of the largest huts in the park, but its one of the oldest, being originally built in 1913. The type of hut you just spend all day at, sitting on the verandah, listening to the birds, watching the world go by. The second hut, Gavels Hut, although the same distance as Gooandra, couldn't have been more different of a hike. The first half of the hike puts you into a false sense of difficulty. Then the hike cranks it up from 0 to 200 literally, with a 200m ascent in less than 1.5km with sweat coming out of every orifice. But, once your done with the climb, your treated to a small, fantastic and rather cute hut, set on the outskirts of the Tantangara plains. All in all, another great day, taking in a couple more of these awesome Kosciuszko Huts. Enjoy! Follow on Instagram. https://www.instagram.com/alexazizo
