Description
UNICEF is busy expanding the number of sites where children in some of the worst conflict-affected areas of Sudan's Khartoum state can receive treatment for severe malnutrition. As Sheldon Yett, UNICEF Representative in Sudan, explains, UNICEF only recently gained humanitarian access to Jebel Aulia, one of the hardest-hit localities; in just a couple of months, 1,400 more children were enrolled in treatment programs across 15 sites, up from just two. "Demand is high," Yett says. "This proves to us why it is so important to be here... The number of children [in need] is growing by the day."
