Why Do Japanese Squirrels Avoid My Feeder Box?

A Japanese squirrel (Sciurus lis, family Sciuridae) scurrying across the forest floor. Contrary to my expectations, it didn’t visit the feeder box filled with seeds of Japanese horse-chestnut (Aesculus turbinata, family Sapindaceae). Will it take a time before acclimitating to the suspicious feeder box? Captured with my old trailcam in the late-morning (around 10:50 PM) of late-October 2024 in Japan.
