Anthropic export ban exposes Europe's AI sovereignty gap

The European Union and the U.K. are weighing their responses after the Trump administration restricted access to Anthropic's most advanced AI models. That, in turn, prompted Anthropic to fully suspend access to those models worldwide. According to reports, U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick imposed export controls on Anthropic's Mythos and Fable models on Friday after Amazon researchers identified a vulnerability in the software.
