Which do you think sounds better? An elaboration on the idle hunting: Back pressure is a blanket term. The short muffler can change the exhaust system’s restriction and pressure-wave behavior at idle, which appears to be causing idle instability. Adding restriction at the outlet stabilizes it, which points to the muffler being too open/short for that idle condition.
