This time, we are exploring a deeply traditional and raw sensory treatment at Saran Clinic right here in Bangkok, Thailand. My upper back and traps have been completely frozen from carrying heavy luggage while traveling, to the point where turning my neck was a struggle. The doctor recommended an authentic three-step process: Chinese fire cupping, moxibustion, and chiropractic adjustments. We started with the fire cupping. The sound of the glass and the intense, inverted pressure as he glided the warm cups across my back felt incredible. It instantly drew the tension out of my stiff muscles. He left the cups on for about 10 minutes, leaving some deep red and purple marks, a true sign of release. Next, we moved to the moxibustion. The deep, penetrating heat from the burning artemisia inside the wooden boxes placed on my back, feet, and behind my knees was intensely soothing and put me in a heavy state of pure relaxation. Finally, the chiropractic adjustments. The satisfying cracks in my back and neck cleared whatever stiffness was left.
