Discover Kōrero Takutai – A kete of coastal data for Takutai Moana applications

Nau mai, haere mai! This video is a recording of a special Ngā Poutama Matawhenua wānanga held on 16 May 2025. It introduces the Kōrero Takutai Information Hub, a powerful online resource designed to support iwi, hapū and whānau preparing applications under the Marine and Coastal Area (Takutai Moana) Act 2011. In this session: Karl Majorhazi (Te Tari Whakatau / The Office of Treaty Settlements) demonstrates how to access key spatial datasets, including Crown Engagement and High Court application areas, Māori Land Court data, and marine zones. Tania Te Hira shares practical insights from real-world experience supporting a Takutai Moana application. Keith Holswich (Ngāti Rahiri Hapū) shares the role of geospatial data in their kaupapa. Duane Wilkins wraps up with a live demo showing how to overlay the data in GIS tools and to find URLS and add to the existing datasets.
