Last Saturday, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. personally inspected the implementation of Oplan Kontra Baha. The visit underscores the urgency of protecting communities from recurring flooding and ensuring long-term solutions are in place. Aligned with inclusive national development, the administration also led the launch of “Sa Bagong Pilipinas, Bawat Bayan Makikinabang” that aims growth initiatives for Local Government Units across the country with a more efficient system and larger funding for the implementation of projects such as distribution of free 10-kilo rice for each of the five million Filipino families for six months per year, expansion of farm-to-market roads and local road network projects for food security and faster mobility of the people, improvement of disaster preparedness and resilience, and promote other activities that help in the overall welfare of every Bagong Pilipino. The Chief Executive also led the signing of MOA between the Department of Education and various cities and local government units for a nationwide classroom building program that aims to address classroom shortages, improve learning environments, and invest in the future of Filipino learners. In a ceremony honoring national pride and sports excellence, memorabilia from boxing icon Manny Pacquiao were formally handed over—preserving a legacy that continues to inspire Filipinos worldwide. Strengthening the country’s irrigation and agricultural backbone, the President attended the General Assembly of the National Irrigation Administration and visited the NIA Command Center, emphasizing modernization, efficiency, and support for Filipino farmers. As this year’s ASEAN Chair, President Marcos Jr. engaged with regional thought leaders during the ASEAN Editors and Economic Opinion Leaders Forum that demonstrated the active role of the Philippines in economic cooperation and regional dialogue. The President also visited the Pag-abot Processing Center of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) in Cebu. He also visited the Visayas Disaster Resource Center.
