Halloween is NOT an evil holiday

Allhallowtide is a triduum of feasts from October 31 - November 2. It consists of Halloween, All Saint’s Day, and All Souls Day. During this time, the Church Militant commemorates the Church Triumphant and offers prayers for the Church Suffering. October 31 - Halloween Did you know that the word Hallowe’en is actually a contraction of “Hallow’s Eve”? Although this day has gained the most popularity in secular culture, its very name points to a greater feast day - All Saints Day. November 1 - All Saints Day This is considered a Solemnity in the Catholic Church - a feast day of the highest rank. In the early Church, Saints were celebrated on the anniversaries of their deaths. As the calendar got full, this day was chosen to commemorate all the Saints. November 2 - All Souls Day In the 11th Century, St. Odilo began a practice of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving specifically for the souls in purgatory. This devotion soon spread throughout the whole Church.
