Local media reported that the child's parents contacted police following the incident. The parents said their son was not seriously injured, but they were disappointed with the response of those in charge, claiming they failed to act appropriately at the time. They added: 'They never apologised for what happened. Thankfully, our son was alright. They should have checked his condition, but they did nothing and continued the performance.' Following public backlash online, the park issued a video apology. In the video, the robot is seen with a sign around its neck reading 'I was wrong, it's all Master Zhang Sanfeng's fault,' as it appears to apologise in front of a camera. They also added a caption to the video saying: 'I'm the culprit who accidentally kicked the kid. Robot martial arts performances all day long, come if you want to see martial arts! Come if you're tough.' The tone-deaf apology sparked further outrage, with many criticising the post as insincere. Several locals also said organisers should have installed proper safety barriers to prevent such incidents.
