Three ISIS brides arrested, face charges after return to Australia

AFP Assistant Commissioner Stephen Nutt has announced three of the ISIS brides have been arrested and are expected to be charged with Commonwealth offences on Thursday or Friday. Janai Safar, who flew into Sydney Aiport and was taken to Mascot Police Station, will be charged with entering or remaining in a declared terror area and being a member of a terrorist organisation. Assistant Commissioner Nutt confirmed the women will appear before state courts once charged. “Operational planning for these matters started in 2015 and was later formalised under a coordinated operation,” he said. Assistant Commissioner Nutt would not comment on why the women were not subject to an exclusion order.
