A major COVID financial fraud case has been exposed in the UK. A family has been sentenced after fraudulently obtaining £150,000 through the Bounce Back Loan Scheme during the coronavirus pandemic. Investigators found that the group used fake or controlled companies to claim government loans intended to support struggling businesses. Instead of using the money for business purposes, the funds were allegedly spent on home renovations, private school fees, credit card bills, vehicles and other personal expenses. After a five-week trial at Southwark Crown Court, the defendants were convicted and sentenced in February 2026.
