Description
Field trip with our Canadian rescue friends, and Namibia's famous Skeleton Coast quickly showed us exactly how it earned its haunting name. The beaches here are isolated, harsh, and beautifully wild. It truly feels as though no human has ever set foot here before.
Tragically, that illusion disappears the moment we look at the seals. Because this area is so remote, we don't get to visit often, meaning the entanglements we do find are often severe. Today, we encountered seals choked by plastic packing bands, an old hat, and discarded cling wrap. It is a heartbreaking situation. Wven when humans are completely absent, our rubbish is everywhere, destroying paradise. Frankly, we should be ashamed of ourselves.
A huge thank you to our Kendra and Sion for helping us tackle this massive mission.
