I’ve made these miniature Handvo Bites in an appe pan, and they turn out so crispy with just a few drops of oil. It’s a great way to sneak in lots of vegetables like bottle gourd and carrots, plus you get all that protein from the dals. These are perfect when you want a light snack with your tea or need a quick idea for the tiffin box. Just serve them hot with some green chutney and you’re good to go.
Plus the appe pan, helps keep the the oil very low while making sure they stay crispy. Since they are made with a mix of dals and loaded with veggies like bottle gourd and carrots, you get a good dose of protein and fiber in every bite. Great for a healthy breakfast or even a pre-workout snack.
ingredients-
- 1/2 cup Chana Dal
- 1/4 cup Urad Dal
- 1/2 cup Rice
- 2 spoon Water
- 2 tbs Curd
- Salt as per taste
- Finely chopped 2-3 Green Chilies
- Finely chopped 3 Garlic Cloves
- 1/2 spoon Asafoetida Powder
- 1 tsp Turmeric Powder
- 2 tsp Red Chilli Powder
- 2 tsp Coriander Seeds Powder
- 1 tsp Jaggery
- 1/2 Lemon Juice
- Grated Bottle Gourd and Carrot
- Finely chopped Onion and Coriander
- Boiled Sweetcorn (optional)
- 1 small packet Eno (Fruit Salt)
- Oil
- White Sesame Seeds
- Few Curry Leaves

Method
1. Blend the soaked dal and rice with a bit of water for the perfect batter.
2. Mix in spices, veggies, and don’t forget that Eno for the fluffy texture!
Immediately mix.
3. Cook in an Appe pan with a few drops of oil, sesame seeds, and curry leaves for that authentic touch. Cover with lid and hile cooking.
4. Serve hot with a side of green coriander chutney for the ultimate experience!
