During the formation of the Future Foundation at the United Nations, Doctor Doom did not show up as Latveria's representative, leaving his country's seat unoccupied during the proceedings. Four years after Galactus attacked New York, Doom infiltrated the Baxter Building in New York City, where he encountered a four-year-old Franklin Richards. Doom knelt down and unmasked himself in front of Richards as Sue Storm approached him from behind, readying her powers. Doctor Doom wore his armor when infiltrating the Baxter Building. The armor includes a silver mask that conceals Doctor Doom's face, save for his eyes. In the comics, Doctor Doom is the king of Latveria and the archenemy of the Fantastic Four, primarily Reed Richards. He and Richards have been rivals since their time in college, during which he used his mastery over science and sorcery to create a transdimensional machine but ignored Richards' attempt at fixing a small mistake; the machine exploded in Doom's face. Scarred and expelled, Doom later forged his mask and armor. As Doom blamed Richards for his accident, his animosity spanned decades and culminated in the 2015 event Secret Wars, when Doom seized the ultimate power of the Beyonders but inadvertently relinquished it to Richards during their climactic duel over the fate of the Multiverse. In What If: Iron Man: Demon in an Armor, Victor von Doom was Tony Stark's college roommate. In this timeline, Doom created a machine that allowed him to transfer his mind into Stark's body. Tony Stark/Iron Maniac from Earth-5012 also used the Doctor Doom alias. Avengers: Doomsday is an upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team the Avengers. Produced by Marvel Studios and AGBO, and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures, it is intended to be the fifth installment in the Avengers film series following Avengers: Endgame (2019) and the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Two new Avengers films, The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars, were announced in July 2022 as the conclusion of the MCU's Phase Six and "The Multiverse Saga". Destin Daniel Cretton was hired to direct The Kang Dynasty, and Jonathan Majors was set to reprise his MCU role as the villain Kang the Conqueror. Jeff Loveness joined the film as writer that September. In November 2023, Cretton departed, Waldron replaced Loveness as writer, and Marvel was considering moving away from the Kang storyline, in part due to Majors's legal issues; Majors was fired the following month. The return of the Russo brothers as directors and McFeely as co-writer, the casting of Downey as the new villain Doctor Doom, and the new subtitle Doomsday were all announced in July 2024. Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to be released in the United States on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU.
