I lived with a Renault 5 for a YEAR… here’s the truth

The problem is… I really don’t want to. When this little green Renault 5 first arrived on my driveway back in April 2025, I thought I knew exactly what it was going to be: stylish, nostalgic and fun for a few weeks. What I didn’t expect was just how attached I’d become to it. So in this long-term review I’m talking about everything. The good, the bad, the genuinely brilliant and the slightly annoying bits Renault still needs to sort out. What’s the real-world range actually like in summer and winter? Is it practical enough for everyday life? How does it cope with long motorway journeys? What’s charging like? And after a full year together… would I actually recommend buying one? Spoiler alert: several of my friends already have after driving mine. This isn’t a launch review or a quick first drive. This is what the Renault 5 is REALLY like to live with after a full year in the real world. And yes… I’m genuinely heartbroken to see it go.
