Never Ruin Your Sambas Again With This Cleaning Method

In this episode of Shoe Care Academy, we take on two classic: the Black & White Adidas Sambas. While most of the shoe features smooth leather, the subtle suede accents on the toe area require extra attention and the right technique. Dirt, scuffs, and buildup can make even the cleanest colorway look worn down but with the proper tools and a careful approach, you can restore your Sambas back to crisp, everyday-ready condition. We kick things off with a dry brushing session using a Soft Bristle Brush, lifting loose dust and debris from both the leather and suede. This step is essential starting dry ensures the suede doesn’t absorb dirt once water is introduced. With the surface prepped, we move into a controlled wet clean. The Soft Bristle Brush is used gently over the suede panel to avoid over saturation, while the Medium Bristle Brush handles the leather uppers, heel tab, and tongue with ease and insole as well. Each section is cleaned with purpose, making sure to keep the suede protected by shaking off excess water and blotting as needed. For the iconic Adidas stripes and other fine details, a Microfiber Towel gives us precision without adding unnecessary moisture. Then, the Stiff Bristle Brush finishes the job by powering through the outsole, removing stubborn dirt and restoring its natural tone. Once the cleaning is complete, the shoes are left to dry evenly. To bring back the color of the suede we apply a bit of mink oil using the Reshoevn8r horse hair brush. To finish although the suede portion is small, using our dry suede kit we still take time to reset the nap.
