United States forces have sunk multiple Iranian warships in separate military operations. A US submarine sank the Iranian vessel Iris Dana in the Indian Ocean, while a Soleimani-class corvette was destroyed in the Strait of Hormuz near Iranian shores, according to US officials. The Soleimani-class warships were built by Iran in 2022 and named after General Qasim Soleimani, the former head of the IRGC Quds Force who was killed in a US strike ordered by President Trump during his first term.
