I Did The Most American Thing Ever…and Added AC To Both My Garages

I’m about to do the most American thing ever. I’m installing air conditioning in both my garages. This Mitsubishi mini split will heat and cool both the upstairs and basement garage. The yard is way too steep, so I’m mounting it to the house with a bracket. The bracket came with these small wedge anchors, but I’m going to use something better- 8” Simpson Titans. These will go all the way through the brick and grab into the concrete wall behind. I leave the bolt a little bit loose so I can level the bracket; then I mark the second hole location. Brick is actually not that strong, so having a bolt long enough to anchor into the foundation is a lot better. I center the bracket where I want it, and finish tightening the bolts. The supports hook onto the bracket and fold down- then the unit gets bolted through these rubber vibration isolators. There’s an adjustment on the back to make sure the supports are plumb. Finally, I bolt the supports to the house- I don’t want to hear anything rattling. Now for the hard part… finding a decent company to solder the line sets and hang the indoor units.
