This is the first time they have roosted away from the nest as a couple since Jackie laid her eggs and incubation duties began. Sandy & Luna (60 /59 days old) are big chicks now and they have been left in charge of the nest overnight! They have one another to depend on so they are not truly alone ♥ They gave each other some cute beakies tonight and snuggled down in the nest together. It is another big milestone when Jackie leaves her chicks alone on the nest - she is weaning both herself and Sandy & Luna away from the constant Motherly care they have had up since hatching. This does not mean that Jackie is going to stop roosting in the nest tree with them. She will continue to spend nights with Sandy & Luna. This is just the first night they are alone. They will gain more confidence and independence as they check off more milestones reached before they fledge. But don't worry, they won't be fledging for a few more weeks. Eaglets fledge between 10-14 weeks and Sandy & Luna are 8 weeks old. Thank you for watching!
