In full: Starmer announces social media ban

Sir Keir Starmer announced a social media ban for children under 16s at Downing Street this morning. The Prime Minister set out how children will be blocked from most social media sites, including TikTok and Snapchat by raising the age limit for access from 13 to 16. Sir Keir proposed that the new restrictions will be enforced through age-recognition facial scans and digital IDs, which are referred to as “highly effective age assurance” systems.
