Description
Ultramarathon runner Nedd Brockmann has been named Young Australian of the Year for 2026, recognising his fundraising efforts for people experiencing homelessness.
The electrician from Forbes, NSW, became the fastest ever Australian to run the 3,900km from Perth to Sydney. He completed the run in 46 days and raised $2.6 million.
Mr Brockmann then went on to start Nedd's Uncomfortable Challenge, which challenges people to choose something that makes them uncomfortable and stick with it for 10 days.
His passion to do something about homelessness began when he would travel to TAFE each week and see people sleeping rough in Sydney's CBD.
