Sandy branched to the back porch three days ago when she was 59 days old. Branching is when the eaglets temporarily leave the nest bowl by walking or hop onto a branch off the main nest itself. Eaglets often use branching to practice their wingercising, which helps to strengthen their flight muscles in preparation for fledging. While not ready to fledge just yet, a developmental achievement achieved. Both eaglets have gotten a taste of the branching bug and we will see them venturing out to the outer branches soon! Congratulations Luna!! 🎉 Sandy & Luna both continue to do a lot of wingercising and hops on the nest - with a brief moment of dual wingercising! Watch how their wings will extend past the circumference of the nest! The average wingspan of a bald eagle ranges from 6 to 7.5 feet (182 cm to 229 cm). Female bald eagles are larger and have longer wingspans than males. It has been a joy and a privilege watching Jackie & Shadow raise these two phenomenal eaglets!! Thank you for watching!
