Today’s exploration brings us to Jaywick, a forgotten seaside town in Essex, England, often called one of the poorest and most deprived places in the United Kingdom. Jaywick was originally built in the 1930s as an affordable holiday escape for working-class families from London. But after World War II, many of the small vacation homes became permanent housing, even though they were never really designed for year-round living. Over time, jobs disappeared, buildings decayed, and parts of the town were left abandoned and forgotten.
