Rayner's tax and Streeting resigns: Starmer Government facing collapse in Labour chaos

Wes Streeting has resigned as health secretary and is poised to challenge Sir Keir Starmer for the Labour leadership. In his resignation letter, Mr Streeting told the Prime Minister he had “lost confidence” in his leadership, adding that it was “clear” Sir Keir would not lead Labour into the next general election. He launched a scathing attack on Sir Keir, criticising him for cutting the winter fuel allowance, describing Britain as an “island of strangers” in a controversial migration speech and sacking staff rather than taking responsibility for his own mistakes.
