Amber Thurman Should Be Alive. Georgia’s Abortion Law Killed Her | Doctor Reacts

We need to talk about Amber Thurman. Her death, along with the deaths of three other women so far have been widely publicized recently as some of the earliest victims of strict abortion laws in certain US states (in Amber’s case, Georgia). ProPublica is publishing a series on pregnant people whose deaths could’ve been prevented if not for the state’s abortion restrictions. Some anti-choice folks are trying to spin Amber’s death as a case of medical malpractice on the part of individual doctors. I’m here to place the blame squarely where it belongs: the blanket abortion bans that make practicing medicine effectively nearly impossible.
