Public gets rare look at Centre Block renovation | CTV News Ottawa at Six for June 7, 2026

Visitors received a rare behind-the-scenes look at the multi-billion dollar Parliament Hill renovation during the Doors Open Ottawa event. CTV's Natalie van Rooy reports that construction to the Centre Block should be substantially completed by around 2030 or 2031; thousands of food lovers gathered on York Street as the annual Ottawa Shawarma Fest returned to the ByWard Market. CTV's Josh Marano reports that festival creator Moe Mosalam praised the strength of the community as vendors gathered to celebrate the culture; and thousands of people gathered along the Rideau River for the first annual Great Mill Duck Drop fundraiser in Manotick. CTV's Camille Wilson reports that Watson's Mill Manotick Inc. president Shannon Giust created the event to help generate income as the city divests two nearby buildings.
