Police escort a 200 tonne abnormal load through Liverpool

Police shut roads and hold traffic as an electrical grid transformer is transported through the City of Liverpool and into Cheshire. Allelys transported the Toshiba super-grid transformer on a flatbed trailer with one of their MAN TGX tractors pulling. The combination had a gross weight of 200 tonnes. The abnormal load arrived at the former Fiddlers Ferry Power Station on Sunday, 1st March. The brownfield site is being redeveloped into a housing estate of 860 homes. Several police cars and motorcycles were used to shut down roads as the wide load moved.
