Why Pulling the Pin Doesn’t Set A Granade Off

When this guy pulls the pin on the grenade, nothing actually happens. You see, pulling the pin by itself doesn't activate the grenade. It only becomes live once the lever is released. That's because the lever is what keeps the internal firing mechanism locked in place. So if you pull the pin but decide not to throw it, you can carefully put the pin back and reset it.
