Description
Spanish actor Javier Bardem said “the narrative is changing” on Israel and that he is getting “more work than ever” despite campaigning for Palestine.
Bardem made the comments during an interview at the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
The actor is best known for his lead role in the 2007 film No Country for Old Men and for playing the main villain in the 2012 James Bond film Skyfall.
A long-time critic of Israel, Bardem used his platform while presenting an award at this year’s Oscars to state: "No to war and a free Palestine.”
His comments come as other actors have spoken out about losing work over their opposition to the genocide in Gaza and violence in the occupied West Bank.
Addressing this, Bardem said there are “people who are more afraid”, which he suggested discouraged them from speaking out.
