Later, on September 27, 2024, the Israeli army also eliminated Hassan Nasrallah, the iconic leader of the organization, by dropping nearly eighty bombs on Hezbollah’s headquarters in Beirut. We reveal the surprising methods that allowed them to pinpoint the leader with unprecedented accuracy. Since their leader’s death, Hezbollah members have gone into hiding. Nevertheless, the movement is eager to demonstrate that it remains a formidable war machine through carefully orchestrated propaganda operations. These take place in southern Beirut, in neighborhoods controlled by the militia. Created in the early 1980s, Hezbollah, initially just a small group of fighters, has gradually become a central political, economic and military force in Lebanon – a true “state within a state” – with elected officials in parliament, banks, schools and hospitals. Hezbollah owes much of its financial and military strength to a powerful ally: the Islamic Republic of Iran. However, part of the Shiite militia’s income is more opaque, reportedly stemming from drug trafficking through a sophisticated network of traffickers, particularly in Latin America.
