Description
Elementor v4 (also called the Atomic Editor) is a game-changer, and in this tutorial, I’ll show you exactly why.
Get Elementor For Free: https://ferdy.com/elementor
Hi, I’m Ferdy, and in this tutorial, you’ll learn how to work with Elementor v4 using a class-based workflow. That means: instead of styling every element over and over again (padding, gaps, colors, typography, alignment, buttons…), you create reusable classes once, and then you apply them anywhere across your website in seconds.
What you’ll learn in this tutorial
✅ 1) The biggest shift in Elementor v4: Classes
In v4 you can style things locally (only that one element) OR you can style with a class (reusable across your whole website).
So I’ll show you how to:
Create classes like flex-column, flex-center, gap-m / gap-l
Create spacing systems like section-m / section-l
Create reusable style classes like max-width-800, text-align-center
Build a framework where you can literally type a few class names and your design is done
Example:
Apply section-m to add spacing top/bottom
Apply flex-column to stack everything
Apply flex-center to center it
Apply gap-m for consistent spacing
…and your messy layout becomes clean instantly.
✅ 2) Buttons become insanely fast (Primary Button system)
I’ll build a Primary Button class step-by-step:
Background color
Typography color
Border radius (I use REM)
Hover state (background + text changes)
Then I show you how to apply that class to any other button and instantly get the same design. And the best part: if you update the class later (for example, make the text white), it updates everywhere.
✅ 3) Local styles vs classes (and how overwriting works)
Important concept:
Class styling = your “global” system
Local styling = quick overrides per element
I’ll show you how you can apply a class and still overwrite something locally (and how to remove that override again).
✅ 4) Variables replace Global Colors (v4 color workflow)
In Elementor v3 you used “Site Settings” and global colors.
In Elementor v4 we use Variables.
So I’ll show you how to:
Create variables like orange, dark-blue, light-blue, text
Use those variables everywhere instead of picking random colors
Build a consistent color system you can scale
✅ 5) How to start with Elementor v4 (even if you don’t see it yet)
I’ll show you how to get Elementor v4 by enabling the beta version inside WordPress:
Install Elementor (free)
Go to Elementor → Tools → Version Control
Enable Beta Tester
Go to Dashboard → Updates and update Elementor
Then we create a new page and start building.
✅ 6) Atomic Elements vs “Old” Elements (v3)
Elementor v4 introduces Atomic Elements (you’ll recognize them by the icon).
They have a different panel:
General
Style
Interactions
And I’ll show you a critical rule:
✅ If you want to build with v4, start with Atomic elements — especially the Div Block.
Pro tip: Don’t start by creating a flexbox/grid from the plus button. Instead, drag a Div Block first and build from there.
✅ 7) My workflow for building sections (Full width background + boxed content)
Elementor v4 doesn’t give you the same “full width” / “boxed” toggle like before, so we do it with classes.
I’ll show you how I structure sections like this:
Wrapper (full-width background)
Content container (boxed-1120)
Spacing system (section-m / section-l)
This makes your design consistent and scalable.
✅ 8) Responsive optimization (tablet + mobile)
We’ll also make sure everything looks great on all devices:
Change layout direction on smaller screens
Fix background position (so faces don’t get cut off 😄)
Keep spacing readable and consistent
