Description
It's been an age since I've done any throwing using porcelain and still, despite this cycle happening so many times, I'm always shocked by the transition and material difference when switching to throw this smooth, plasticky-cheddar cheese. I have a love hate relationship with porcelain, I adore the qualities that make is so special, how finely it can worked and it's translucency but this comes with a myriad of struggles, it's throw-ability, warping, cracking, collapsing mid-throw, together with trimming away in chunks and occasionally tearing itself apart, all of which are factors my usual stoneware clay deals with easily.
You've heard me talk about the want of wanting to incorporate more porcelain into my practice for a few years now and hopefully this video will explain some of the characteristics of clay like this. I'll also try to set some time aside to test all of the porcelain bodies I have, if that's a video that may be of interest to you folks?
Thanks as always for watching and apologies in advance for a week away, I need a break!
