ATV - Blue Thunder Rocks Slovakia 1995 (Nova Scotia)

Blue Thunder was the rock and roll police band from Halifax Nova Scotia. Formed in 1991, the group was made up mostly of serving Halifax police officers who used music as a way to connect with the public, especially young people. They played schools, community events, and major stages across Atlantic Canada, mixing loud guitars with messages about better choices. In 1995 the band reached a high point, performing at the G7 Summit expo finale in Halifax before a crowd of around ten thousand people. That same year, Blue Thunder traveled overseas to the Republic of Slovakia, bringing their music and community policing message to a country still finding its footing after communism. The trip was documented in a one hour ATV television special, showing some very surreal moments of Halifax cops rocking out on Slovak stages.
