Description
The Chris Minns NSW Labor's attempt to demolish and privatise public housing in Waterloo Estate, in inner Sydney on Gadigal Country, was "a travesty amidst the housing crisis", said Socialist Alliance's Rachel Evans, one of the housing activists who have been camping at the site for the last two weeks. Speaking at an onsite media conference on June 9, Greens Senator David Shoebridge condemned the Minns government for sending in the riot police against the housing activists and tenants earlier this morning as did NSW Greens MP for Newtown Jenny Leong. Leong said we need more public housing on public land, not demolition and privatisation. Shoebridge said that the Greens stand with the residents who are fighting for their homes and neighbourhoods.
