Description

1997 Land Rover Defender 110 2.8i BMW M52 Station Wagon £59,995 Only 53,000 Miles First Registered 5th January 1997. We are delighted to offer this exceptionally rare example of a 2.8i factory BMW M52 engine Land Rover. Built for the South African market during the BMW ownership of Land Rover. Frank Isenberg - then Chief Engineer at BMW – developed the idea of installing the M52 2.8 injection Straight Six Petrol Engine into the Defender. They were built in limited numbers for a handful of years, just 739 110’s were ever produced and only 412 of these were 5 door Station Wagons. Making this vehicle 1 of 412 vehicle made. Eligible for USA export. We have seen a few of these vehicle over the years but a majority have done high mileages as proven the BMW engine was very reliable. To find a Station Wagon with such low mileage let alone a 2.8i BMW example is just unheard of. The vehicle is in outstanding condition, factory fitted steel brake pipes still in place, un welded chassis and bulkhead, which have no corrosion due to the dry climate the vehicle has been in. The vehicle really does need to be seen to be appreciated. In our opinion this is the best example on the market today. The interior is all original and in great condition, the vehicle also has factory fitted air conditioning, another rare feature for a late 90's Defender. The dash is unmarked with no additional extras or holes. The vehicle comes with 2 sets of keys, its original 2.8i owners pack and it will be having a fresh MOT this week ready for its lucky new owner to enjoy. It will also be receiving a Service at the same time just for ultimate peace of mind. To the left of the vehicle behind the nearside rear wheel is a sizeable water tank, and you can see on the corner of the cross member is a tap. This tank could also very easily be converted into an additional fuel tank, however the vehicle already has one on the other side! Behind the offside side rear wheel is an identical tank that is joined to the standard fuel tank. Lastly there is a twin charging system in place in the battery compartment, but it is currently disconnected. This can be removed or recommissioned should the buyer wish. The vheicle has recently been through our workshops and had a number of servcing jobs completed but overall was in exceptionally good conditon, it has also been through our bodyshop and any imperfections have been addressed and the bodywork is now faultless. It has also had a new set of decals as the old ones had faded just to do the car justice. The tyres are all in good condition and it is fitted with General Grabber All Terrains. This is surely a must have vehicle for any serious Land Rover collector. We can assist with delivery. All enquires please contact Miles on 078255 87155 or 01745 798681.
