Description
This incredible video, recorded by @UKAviationMovies show a B-1 bomber, or The Bone, departing RAF Fairford on a mission.
What is so cool about the video @UKAviationMovies captured is the movement of the exhaust nozzles on each engine. You know exactly what the throttle movements are by the pilot flying the jet by watching how the mechanisms of the exhaust nozzles move.
As the pilot flying pushes the throttles from max thrust into the afterburner region, the nozzle ring moves from a forward position to aft.
This nozzle ring movement, caused by the throttles pushing up into max AB, opens everything up for maximum takeoff thrust as 8000 lbs a minute of raw fuel is consumed to get the jet moving down the runway.
It’s cool to see a Bone leave at night, with long tongues of flame coming out of four engines.
I think it’s just as cool watching the mechanics of the nozzle swings as the engine transforms from one thrust region to the next.
This video was captured by @UKAviationMovies, who has a great channel with lots of cool plane spotting videos, so go by, take a look, and subscribe.
