Mainland Rail ADL's on the move - February 2026 (HD)

On Tuesday 24th February 2026, 7 of the 10 ex-Auckland ADL units now privately owned by Mainland Rail, were towed by KiwiRail from storage in Rangiora to Middleton at a reduced speed. The move ran as special G21 and was headed by DXB 5016 & DFB 7186 with 16 empty wagons on the rear for braking purposes. DX class leader 5016 is also scheduled to be retired from KiwiRail along with the rest of the DX fleet (besides one member) and shipped to South Africa in the next 18 months or so, enjoy!
