It is the successor model of the Mercedes-Benz X 156. The second generation of the GLA was presented on the 11th. December 2019 as GLA 200 and as Mercedes-AMG GLA 35 4MATIC as well as with mention of a later use plug-in hybrid variant. Sales start was on the 11th. February 2020. The model came to European dealers in April 2020. The Chinese and North American markets followed shortly after. A revised version of the series debuted on 16. March 2023. The AMG GLA 45 and the AMG GLA 45 S were to be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March 2020. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the exhibition was on the 28th. February 2020, which is why the premiere took place on the Internet. Both models take over the drive from the models of the same name of the 177 series. They were sold in June 2020. With the model maintenance, the 45 variants were omitted. The version with plug-in hybrid drive, which was already announced for market launch, was presented at the beginning of March 2020.
